Welcoming people.
Making things.

We are a small company in Tokyo, making tools we use in the inns we run ourselves. Not two separate businesses, but one continuing practice.

Sea and green landscape in Okinawa

01 / practice

We practice hospitality
ourselves.

We run two small inns in Okinawa.

We prepare rooms, answer questions, welcome guests and see them on their way. We hold two experiences together: a stay that feels good for the guest, and a day that remains workable for the people welcoming them. Doing the work is how we learn what both need.

  1. Prepare the room
  2. Answer questions
  3. Welcome the guest
  4. See them on their way

02 / observation

Every day of welcoming
teaches us to notice.

Some moments already flow. Others could feel better with a little care.

Booking, preparation, arrival, the stay itself. We see them not as separate tasks, but as one connected act of welcoming. Small things that are hard to see from a desk begin to show us what needs to be made next.

  1. BEFORE

    Before they arrive

Prepare the information. Picture the arrival.

  2. DURING

    As we welcome them

Make room for the start of the stay, not just the procedure.

  3. AFTER

    After they leave

Use what we learned. Make the next welcome fit better.

03 / making

What we notice becomes
a tool that fits the work.

The first tools we made were for ourselves. What we noticed in practice has taken four forms, each intended to help welcoming and staying flow more naturally.

  1. 01

    pono CHECKIN

Self check-in, built for Japan's lodging law

  2. 02

    pono WINDOW

A dashboard worth opening every morning

  3. 03

    pono LISTING

Reach the guests who truly fit

  4. 04

    pono CONCIERGE

    24h multilingual guest response

A cared-for garden in the everyday setting where guests are welcomed

04 / return to practice

What we make goes back
into the work of welcoming.

We notice in practice, make, use what we have made ourselves, then adjust it again. A tool is not finished when it is made. We still use what we make in our own inns today.
