Check-in on a trip was always the most tedious part. The name and party size you'd already entered at booking — you'd be made to write it all out again from scratch, on site. Because the law requires it, everyone settles for a free, “good enough” form, and the whole process leaves everyone involved a little unhappy.
As people who run an inn ourselves, we didn't want to settle for that — we wanted to flip it. Take in the booking information at the front door, so the moment the form opens, it's already filled in. The slots for every guest are already there from the start, so there's no awkward chasing people down later for ‘we're still missing someone.’ All the guest has to do is confirm.
And the selfie taken for identity verification is deleted on the spot the moment it's confirmed. We never hold on to it. We made a practice of keeping only the promises we can actually keep. We wanted to turn check-in — the very symbol of hassle — into the most pleasant first step of the trip.
